Closing the Divide
The digital divide is more than just not having internet and devices; sometimes it is also not having the background in using digital tools. WestNGN aims to close all gaps in the community with our digital literacy project, helping both individuals and organizations to thrive in the increasingly digital world.

What is a Digital Navigator?
What is a Digital Navigator? A Digital Navigator can be anyone who is supporting individuals or communities around issues related to technology and/or internet usage. This could involve teaching someone how to use a mouse, check email, send a text, use Google Docs, attend a telehealth appointment, or use a portal, among other tasks. We are not talking about high-tech needs, but basic skills. If you use a smartphone, laptop, or tablet on a regular basis, you already possess the technical skills that people in our community need help learning.
Why the need for Digital Navigation
Devices
Pew Research found that 41% of individuals making less than $ 30,000 a year did not have a laptop or large-screen device.
Skills
Recent research from the Atlanta FED suggests that "workers with at least one digital skill earn an average of 23% more than those with no digital skills, or roughly $8,000 more per year"
